Because pressure alone never killed what was growing there. The green and black on Lowcountry siding is not dirt, it is living growth: algae, mildew, and mold that root down into the texture of vinyl, Hardie plank, stucco, and painted wood. A high-pressure wand knocks the visible layer off and leaves the colony behind, so the wall looks clean for a season and then goes green again on the first humid stretch. Hard surfaces such as concrete driveways, walkways, and pool decks can take real pressure, and we clean those with a surface cleaner as part of our pressure washing and driveway cleaning services. Siding and roofs cannot. Asphalt shingles lose their protective granules under high pressure, which is why roofs get their own dedicated roof soft washing process. How long does a house wash take?
A standard 2,000 square foot single-story home usually takes 2 to 3 hours from setup to final rinse. Two-story homes run 3 to 5 hours, and larger custom homes can be a half-day. We do not rush it, because dwell time is what actually kills the mildew.
Do I need to be home for a house washing?
No, as long as we have access to an outdoor spigot and anything you do not want wet has been moved, such as patio cushions and uncovered grills. Many customers schedule during the workday and come home to a clean house. We do a walk-through in person or by photo before we leave.
